Yesterday, I came across a very interesting blog entry titled 'Light Within: Hasan Abdal', about the town of Hasan Abdal (Punjab, Pakistan).
Interestingly, S A J Shirazi, who is a Lahore (Punjab, Pakistan) - based writer, posted this on his blog on April 14, 2006, a day on which I was present in Hasan Abdal along with my family!

Thanks for this plug in. BTW, I have been associated with the city while going to and coming from Abot Abad for two years. I love this clean lil town.

I would've been glad to, along with my family, but we didn't have the visa.
BTW, we met a lot of nice people who had come down to Hasan Abdal from Sind. Apparently, they also believe strongly in the teachings of Guru Nanak and had come to welcome all of us i.e. the Sikh Jathha. They camped at the Panja Sahib Gurdwara for as long as we stayed there. Perhaps I'll do a blog-post dedicated solely to them some time soon. :)

Oh u have to get the visa to travel to each of the provinces separately?? That's cruel! :(

Not just provinces...actually, the visa is city/town specific...For example, my mother was keen to visit Rawalpindi, because her father had briefly practised medicine there, before he joined the Royal British Army as a doctor...But we couldn't go because we didn't have the visa for that city. We had 'Sikh Pilgrim visa', which is only for the places where the Gurdwaras meant to be visited by the Jathha are located.
People from Pakistan, visiting India, also face similar problems, because they are also granted visa in the same manner.

That's bad bad bad....I would change this rule if I someday become part of government :)

I certainly do hope that more and more people start thinking like we do and that it happens very soon. :)
